Bicycle spaces on our Trains

Cycle Spaces on Trains

You can bring your bike on board one of our trains free of charge, however it is worth noting that on board our trains we have the capacity to carry two bikes at any one time.  Cycle reservations are required on some services, see below for more information.

Cycle Reservations

Due to high demand cycle reservations are required on services to and from London, and on our Liverpool – Norwich route.  It is free to reserve a cycle space, however you must reserve your cycle space prior to travel and after you have purchased your train tickets. It is strongly advised to check availability of cycle spaces prior to purchasing your train tickets as spaces cannot be guaranteed.  If you travel regularly on our services call our Customer Services team on 03457 125 678 and ask about a block booking for your cycle reservations.

It is advised to book your cycle reservations as early as possible; reservations can be made online using our Cycle Reservation form.  If your journey is taking place within 48 hours please call 03457 125 678 to make your reservation.  Please note that reservations must be made by 2000 on the day prior to travel.

Folding Cycles

Folding cycles are a convenient way to travel when you need to take your cycle on the train.  Folding cycles can be carried on all East Midlands Trains services, provided they can be stored safely in the luggage racks.

Cycles and Rail Replacement Buses

During periods of disruption or engineering work, due to limited space we are unfortunately unable to carry cycles on rail replacement bus or taxi services.  Folding cycles may be allowed on rail replacement bus or taxi services in some instances.

Tandems, tricycles, motorcycles, mopeds and motorised scooters may not be taken on any of our services, nor can any kind of cycle trailer.
