East Midlands Trains, along with Stagecoach Group, aims to make a difference and to reduce our impact on the environment wherever possible. We have a Group Sustainability report and, at East Midlands Trains, an environmental plan detailing our objectives and targets. 

Corporate Social Responsibility Report 2013-14

East Midlands Trains, part of the Stagecoach Group, has been operating since November 2007. Each day, we transport over 66,000 commuters, business and leisure passengers across a network covering nearly 900 miles on our high speed long distance, regional and local services.

We are proud of our partnership working with communities and stakeholder groups across our network and we are focused on delivering great service to our customers.

Stagecoach Group's Sustainability Strategy

‘Revolution in the way we travel’ outlines the Group’s ambitious five-year plan to reduce carbon emissions from our transport operations.

Stagecoach are targeting an overall reduction of 8% in buildings CO2e emissions and a cut of 3% in annual fleet transport CO2e emissions by April 2014

Stagecoach’s approach includes the following initiatives:

  • Meeting and exceeding regulatory obligations
  • Investing in more fuel efficient vehicles
  • Using alternative, renewable fuels
  • Training employees in more efficient driving techniques
  • Saving energy at offices and depots
  • Conserving and recycling water
  • Reducing and recycling waste
  • Cutting business travel
  • Considering the impact of developments on biodiversity
  • Providing affordable bus and rail service
